SHAMROCK JUNIOR HURLERS SHOWING PROMISE AND GOOD FORM
The Shamrock Junior Hurling Team consisting of a strong blend of youth and experience are showing up well in the South-East League with some notable achievements and a trail of consistency developing. A number of current and former members of the Diarmuid O’Murchu Minor Side are making a marked contribution to this year’s improvement and good form.
Having recorded credible victories over Carrigaline and Valley Rovers they then faced visitors Tracton at Pairc Tadgh O-Ainnlaoi
Shamrock 1-17 Tracton 1-14
This was a very competitive game with Tracton fielding a strong side and all scores being well earned by both teams. Shamrocks defended well with ‘keeper David Herlihy on full alert and team Captain Andy O’ Grady playing a pivotal role at centre back treating us to some of his silky hurling skills. Youthful wind back Barry O’Mahony hit two wonderful long range points and old veteran Senan Collins was as evergreen as ever. The man from the ‘Crooked Corner’ Rob Barrett was in fine form and full forward Josh Bartlett scored our only goal which divided the teams at the end.
Mentors Chris O’Neill, Bernard Hickey, Kevin O’Grady and Colin Brady, Brian Sweeney and Michael Kidney must be pleased and no doubt their work on the training field is reaping rewards. Well done to all the players for their best efforts and genuine commitment.
