U12 HL V Laochra Óg – 4/10

Shamrocks 2-8, Laochra Óg 1-1

Well done to the U12 hurlers who beat Laochra Óg in their HL final on a wet and muggy Friday evening in Shanbally.

This was the second part of the double and completed a successful week for this team. It was richly deserved on the evening and brings a long and successful season to a close, a season that required a lot of effort and travelling from all the players, coaches and parents so we thank them for their efforts.

Friday night belonged to the players. They started off with a point and this was followed by one of the best goals you will see at under 12 level where a long ball in was doubled on in the air to the back of the Laochra Óg net – old school hurling. Shamrocks were totally on top in the first half on a greasy pitch and went in at HT leading by 1-4 to 0-0.

Laochra Óg resumed the second half in desperate need of some scores and they got a quick 1-1 straight after HT. This was to test the Shamrocks lads but they were well up to the challenge. The free taker was almost faultless from frees and knocked over 0-4 from all angles while another free which was dropped in around the house was scrambled to the Laochra Óg net to seal the win.

A very successful year from everyone complete!
