Diarmuid Ó Murchús 2-13, Ballinora 3-8
Diarmuid Ó Murchús picked up a vital win in the FC on Wednesday evening in Waterfall. This win sets them up nicely for a run at qualifying from the group at a later stage.
Ó Murchús stated well and Barry O’Mahone had an early goal for DÓMs and they added on another 4 points in succession before Ballinora struck for their first score – a goal – after 20 minutes. They added another one and coming up to HT, they were level before Ó Murchús edged ahead with a vital point right on halftime, leading on a scoreline of 1-7 to 2-3
The early stages of the second half were back and forth with Ballinora edging ahead by a point for the first and only time. However, Ó Murchús hit a purple patch just at the right time – midway through the second half – scoring an unanswered 1-3 (another goal from O’Mahony) to open up a 6 point lead, 2-13 to 3-4. Ballinora finished with 0-4 but the goal they needed never arrived and Ó Murchús held on for an excellent win.
