Aghabullogue 3-16, Shamrocks 0-14
A mighty effort from the 16s once again on Wednesday evening, this time in the hurling league. The young team stood up and were counted against their older opponents and led on by the older brigade of Barry and Cian, they really gave it their all at home to Aghabullogue before losing out in the end by 3-16 to 0-4, a wonderful effort from one and all.
They played with the very strong wind in the first half which blew right up the field and were doing well until 10 minutes before HT when Aghabullogue struck 2-2 to suddenly lead by 2-6 to 0-66; however, they responded well with some lovely points from Cian Lynch from both play and frees, Luke Jordan and Seamus O’Mahony. HT Aghabullogue turned around to play with the strong breeze leading by 2-6 to 0-11.
Obviously, the going was tougher in the second half but the young team, minus 4 of their main players now, kept at Aghabullogue and pushed them all the way and made them fight hard for the win. While defeat was their lot, they came out of yet another game with huge credit. Well done to them and to their coaches for keeping things positive all through.
