U16 FL V Sliabh Rua – 23/4

Slaibh Rua 3-14, Shamrocks 1-8

Despite the defeat, the 16s put up a great display on Sunday morning against a huge Sliabh Rua team. Already down 2 of their main players, Shamrocks fielded 10 U14s as number are so tight and things didnt go to plan after 10  minutes as Ryan Doolan had to leave the field to get his wrist checked after an accident.

Sliabh Rua were physically running through the Shamrocks players with their advantage but in fairness to Shamrocks, they never gave up. Sliabh Rua led 2-8 to 0-4 at halftime but a good start from Shamrocks to the second half, which yielded a lovely Cian Lynch point and a superb Calum O’Neill team goal they had the defecit back to 6 points. They battled hard but a third SR goal put the seal on the 2 points.

We have to give credit to the young Shamrocks players who were a credit to the jersey when faced with practically impossible odds and a physically massive team.
