Shamrocks 3-9, Na Piarsaigh 2-5
Shamrocks first venture into Division 1 was a winning one on Sunday morning in Shanbally. This was a competitive game against a team who played Premier 2 last year and Shamrocks were deserving winners. They played with the wind in the first half and led 0-3 to 0-0 after 10 minutes, then 0-5 to 01 before Na Piarsaigh strruck for a goal from a penalty to keep them within distance at HT, 1-7 to 1-2 for Shamrocks. A big second half was needed and Shamrocks stepped up a gear working hard throughout the team. They kept Piarsaighs out for the first 15 minutes and then put the game to bed with further goals from Donal Herlihy from a penalty and was a constant threat for Shamrocks throughout and Seán Óg Ó Loinsigh. Piarsaighs finished with 3 points on the trot but Shamrocks were comfortable enough in the end
