U15 HC V Ahan Gaels – 3/8

Shamrocks 2-17, Ahan Gaels 1-10

Shamrocks played their second hurling championship match against Ahane Gaels in Shanbally on Wednesday evening. Both teams were evenly matched during their league campaigns. Both teams started brightly and were level on four occasions early on.

Shamrocks then scored four points without reply to leave them leading at half time Ona score line 0-10 to 0-07.

With the strong breeze at Shamrocks backs in the second half, their long range points put some daylight between the two teams. After a great flowing move and some great passages of play resulted in Shamrocks getting the crucial opening goal that gave them some comfort entering the closing stages.

Ahane Gaels to their credit kept the scoreboard ticking over with some fine points and when they found the net with five minutes to go it was back to a six point game. Some more fine points by the home team and a second goal in injury time left the final score 2-17 to 1-10 in our favour. Once again great credit must go to the players who togged out and those who were on holidays or injured who have stuck together all year even when we found it difficult at times.
