St Colmcilles 3-7, Shamrocks 1-13
Shamrocks travelled to Carrignavar to take on St. Colmcilles, a combined team of Carrignavar and Whitescross in the U15 B2 football league.
Shamrocks started with six of our U13 team and did they do the club proud. They moved the ball at pace and had 5 points on the board before St Colmcilles scored a breakaway goal to leave the scores level after 20 mins. Both teams exchanged points but another soft goal on the stroke of half time left Shamrocks trailing on a score line of 2-04 to 0-06.
Shamrocks started the second half well and after three early points had the bare minimum was between the teams. A third goal was conceded and this was followed by another two points to leave Shamrocks trailing by six points approaching the final ten minutes. They never panicked and got the goal that they deserved to allow them to push hard over the last few minutes that was remaining. Two points from play and two frees had Shamrocks leading by a point as the game went into injury time. Colmcilles scored a free to make it a level game. Another two minutes were played but Shamrocks couldn’t find the winning score. A late effort hit the post and another just wide to leave the final outcome a draw on a scoreline 3-07 to 1-13. This was a total team performance and each one of the sixteen players can be proud of themselves. A special thanks to all the parents who travelled on the night.
