An excellent and impressive performance from the U13s who dominated Sliabh Rua on Tuesday evening, each and every pne of the team put in a erious shift, well done to one and all
The u16 hurlers were also well beaten, this time by St Colmcilles (Whitecross & Carraig na bhFear). The game took place in Shanbally and Shamrocks conceded 8 goals. Final score St Colmcilles 8-12, Shamrocks 2-13.Obviously the goals were a killer - 2 in the first half in 30 seconds and 2 in the second half in one minute. No way back from that in any game. The lads were game all through but Colmcilles were too good for them and in particular had excellent hurlers down the middle of their team. Shamrocks played well for long spells and had plenty of possession but lacked that killer instinct and were reliant on just a few players for scores. St Colmcilles led 4-4 to 1-9 at HT and stretched that to 4-7 to 1-9 in the five minutes after HT. However, Shamrocks staged a mini revival and scored 1-1 in quick succession to cut the deficit to 4-8 to 2-11 to give themselves hope with 3 points between the teams with plenty time left. But that hope was dispatched with the visitors scoring 2 goals in a minute followed by a quick point to end the game as a contest with 15 minutes to go. Thats the end of the hurling season for the U16s on a disappointing day for the club. ... See MoreSee Less
What started out as an afternoon of promise and potential for two teams in the club ended in bitter disappointment with two championship exits, both at the exact same time. The Junior A football team were beaten by 1-12 to 1-5 by Ballymartle in Ballygarvan in what effectively was a quarter final game. They led by 1-4 to 0-4 at HT and looked in control but fell apart after the break, outscored 1-8 to 0-1 in the second in what was a very disappointed and disjointed display, with players injuries everywhere. They are now out of everything and will play no more games this year ... See MoreSee Less
