Shamrocks 3-7, Aghabullogue 3-5
Shamrocks travelled to Coachford to take on the home team Aghabullogue in the semi final of the u14 football league.
Both teams found scores hard to come by and at the half time whistle it was 1-03 a piece. We had a lot of possession but failed to capitalise with some poor wides. Strong words of encouragement were spoken at half time and the lads responded very well in the second half.
Some fine performances were rewarded with us scoring 1-02 without reply but soon conceded a very soft goal when we failed to clear our lines. We regrouped and were leading by 5 points with 3 minutes to go. A third Aghabullogue goal was quickly followed by a point to leave just the bare minimum between the teams in our favour as we entered injury time. Some 7 minutes later and after heroic defending, we broke out of defence to move the ball up to our forwards and they did the business by tapping over the bar for a much relieved point. On the kick out the final whistle sounded to great scenes of joy amongst the large Shamrock supporters.
