Shamrocks 5-11, Courcey Rovers 4-8
After a tough first half, the U14 footballers turned in a brilliant second half display to make the long trip to Ballinspittle worthwhile on Monday evening. Shamrocks started with 1-1 from Cian Lynch and Sam Foy. However, they lost their way thereafter and Courceys took over and went into a 1-4 to 1-1 lead by the first water break. Courceys continued to pound the Shamrocks goal and led 4-5 to 2-3 at HT, after further scores from Dara McCormick (penalty) and Bartlett and Lynch.
Shamrocks played with a bit of a breeze in the second half and the transformation was remarkable. A few switches worked a treat. Two goals from Evan Twomey and Harry O’Leary allied to points from McCormick, Lynch and Cathel O’Donovan, all from play and the game was level, 4-6 each. Shamrocks sensed victory and another goal from Sam Foy and points from McCormick, Lynch and David Herlihy helped them over the line. Thanks to all parents and players who made the trip and to John and Shane on the sideline.
