Ballinhassig 8-6, Diarmuid Ó Murchús 2-4
A typical start of season game played in heavy conditions. For many, this was their first game playing for Diarmuid Ó Murchús and despite an encouraging first half, it showed in the performance.
Ballinhassig led 3-3 to 2-0 at half time, having played with the strong wind. Ó Murchús were reasonably happy with that scoreline as they turned to play with the wind. However, nothing went right for them as Ballinhassig took over completely and Ó Murchus were under constant pressure from the throw in. The goals flowed and it was all over. The 12 men (down a player due to injury) simply had no answer in the second half. Still, the season is up and running and the teams performances will only get better. Michael Nugent and Shane Darcy got the Ó Murchús goals in the first half.
