U14 H Shield v Whitescross – 20/10

Whitescross 2-5,Shamrocks 2-4

The shield semi final went the way of the visitors on Sunday morning. The simple fact is that Shamrocks shot this game away with wide after wide after wide, from all angles, both from play and frees. Shamrocks were the better team throughout and played great hurling for the whole game but their shooting let them down; registering at least 15 wides on the morning. Whitescross nabbed two late points to leave as the victors and the Shamrocks players were left to wonder what happened.

Whitescross scored an early goal but Shamrocks responded through Sam Foy. It was a low scoring game with a heavy wet ball throughout. At this pointSshamrocks were hurling well but the wides were mounting. At HT, the sides were level 1-2 apiece.

The second half arrived and Shamrocks did most of the hurling; they went a goal ahead but Whitescross got another goal to level it up again. Both teams traded a point apiece before Shamrocks thought they had scored a point but the referee consulted his umpires and waved it wide. Whitescross equalised before he consulted his umpires at the other end and awarded the winning point to Whitescross.
