Grenagh 4-13, Diarmuid Ó Murchús 3-4
DÓMs came up short in the championship semi final on Wednesday night against the home side. Grenagh were a well coached team featuring hurlers throughout the field and they simply had too much hurling for Ó Murchús. While Ó Murchús tried hard throughout, it was a below par performance on the night after an interrupted preparation due to holidays and other codes!
Ó Murchús had an early goal but Grenagh grew into the game and led 2-6 to 1-2 at HT; it could have been a lot more as they had all the possession and chances and at this stage, while they were within striking distance of Grenagh, Ó Murchú’s were just hanging on at this point.
Any chance of a comeback was squashed within 10 minutes of the restart with Grenagh scoring 1-3 without reply to effectively finish the game as a contest. They added a further goal and led 4-12 to 1-4 before 2 late consolation goals for Ó Murchús gave the supporters something to shout about at the end.
