- Irish Coast Guard Air/Sea Rescue simulation.
On Tuesday 20th August the Irish Coast Guard in conjunction with the Ringaskiddy Maritime College conducted an air/sea rescue training exercise in the inner harbour area. They requested use of the training pitch area to land their Sikorsky Rescue 117 Helicopter to conduct various rescue pick-up and winching simulations. The activity provided unexpected entertainment and excitement for some local children and adults. The passing traffic also slowed to get a glimpse of the operations.
