Shamrocks 1-9, Tracton 1-6

Shamrocks are into the next round of the JAFC after this hard fought victory over Tracton in Ballygarvan on Saturday evening last. This was Shamrocks first victory of the season and it was their best and couldn’t have come at a better time.

Shamrocks started much the better and points from David Andrews, Alan McCarthy and Cannice Caffrey were 0-5 to 0-0 up after 20 minutes. Tracton scored their first point after 22 minutes and went in behind at HT, 0-5 to 0-2.

Tracton took over at the start of the second half and looked good, scoring 1-1 within 1 minute to go level for the first time. Shamrocks were struggling to get ball into the forwards but a defelcted goal from David Andrews put them 3 up again. Tracton responded at the other end with 3 points of their own and it was all to play for. Shamrocks responded well and a magnificent point from substitute Philip Brady with 13 minutes to go sparked Shamrocks into life and they finished the stronger scoring 2 further points to claim a deserved win.
