U16 HL V Cobh 2 – 6/4

Diarmuid Ó Murchús 7-9, Cobh (2) 7-8

This was a fabulous game of hurling played in Cobh on Saturday evening last. It featured 14 goals and many twists and turns along the way. A draw probably would have been a fair scoreline with so many scores.

Cobh second team were fast out of the blocks and their corner forward had a hatrick in the first 20 minutes. At this juncture, it looked like O’Murchús would get a tanking but they kept themselves in it with a few scores of their own. At halftime, Cobh led 6-5 to 3-5.

O’Murchús made a great start to the second half and had the 9 point deficit clawed back withion 10 minutes with 3 quick goals and they went ahead by 4. It was a complete turnaround and teir tails were up Cobh got in for another goal to leave a point between the teams but O’Murchús held on for a moral boosting one point win. While it was a great team effort, special mention go to Philip Dorney and Conor Finn who both scored hatricks.
