Castlelyons 4-19, Diarmuid Ó Murchús 3-13
A cracking game of hurling in Castlelyons on Tuesday night and the Shamrocks/Crosshaven combination played their part. Not only that, but they actually led by a point with 10 minutes left but Castlelyons finished very strong and only asserted themselves in that last 10 minutes to pull away for what has to be said was a flattering 9 point victory.
The first half was even enough with Ó Murchú’s staying in touch with Castlelyons who were tuning up for a county final next Sunday. Castlelyons led 1-6 to 1-5 at HT and it was all to play for in the second half. That second period featured many scores from both sides with every Ó Murchu’s player putting in a great shift, initially to stay in touch with Castlelyons and eventually move into a winning position. But the big Castlelyons players stepped up to the mark in the last 10 minutes to ensure their victory over a gallant Ó Murchú’s team.
