Shamrocks 6-7, Tracton 4-5
This was a great win for the 16s footballers over a good Tracton team on Saturday afternoon in Minane Bridge.
The first half was low scoring but Shamrocks were happy at HT as they led by 0-4 to 0-3 after having played good controlled football into the wind and dominating possession. Most of the scores and all the goals came in the second half. Shamrocks piled on the pressure from the throw in and scored three quick goals to move 10 points ahead. They stretched further ahead and were 16 points ahead with 8 minutes remaining. Then Tracton went on a scoring blitz within the next 5 minutes, scoring 4-1 without replay and Shamrocks were on the ropes. However, an important kickout was won to relieve the pressure and they tagged on 1-2 in the closing stages to finish deserving winners.
