U12 HL Semi Final V Mayfield – 19/9

Mayfield 5-5, Shamrocks 3-3

Shamrocks U12 great hurling season came to an end in Mayfield last night as we were beaten in the semi final of the u12 hurling against a very good Mayfield team. It was a huge bonus for us to be in the semi final in the first place and all credit must go to the players for this achievement. The game itself was played in the main pitch in Mayfield and it was great to see and hear the large number if parents, family and supporters that Shamrocks had present.

Mayfield started stronger and got some great scores midway through the first half to leave us trailing at half time on a scoreline of 3-03 to 0-01. Some words of advice was given at half time along with some positional switches. These started to pay dividends and we soon had some scores on the board. With ten minutes to go we were back in the game and only trailing by 4 points but Mayfield got a goal to kill off our great effort. We got another goal and a few points to leave the final score 5-05 to 3-03. The players were gutted at the end but when they look back at a long hard season in which the played ten competitive games in hurling they will realise how great the season was. All the panel got valuable game time throughout the season including last night.
