U14 HL V Lisgoold – 6/6

Shamrocks 4-7, Lisgoold 3-9

Shamrocks travelled to Lisgoold last Wednesday evening for this latest league fixture. The points were conceded by Lisgoold before the ball was thrown in as due to injuries and holidays, they had to play some of their Premier players to fulfill the fixture. We travelled with only 12 players for a variety of reasons and decided that once points were not an issue, we would accept 2 players from our opponents and play 14-a-side. This also meant that we had to play full pitch including full goals.

Best decision we have made all year! A fabulous game of hurling ensued; end to end play; some fine scores; brilliant performances from all our lads. Without naming names, I would contend that we had the best 2 players on the pitch. We eventually came out with a 1 point win after a titanic tussle. Our lads were buzzing after it, particularly after the drubbing from Cloughduv the previous week. If only we had more numbers…. Regardless, we’ll keep going and hope for the best.

Thanks to all who travelled.
