Shamrocks 5-23, Cill na Martra 2-7
Shamrocks welcomed our mid Cork opponents to a wet and windy Shanbally this evening. The inclement weather didn’t spoil our lads enthusiasm for a game. Our lads played very well all through and the score-line was a reflection of the flow of the game.
Shamrocks have been on the end of these type of results over the years and whilst they are soul-destroying to a degree, a lot can be gleaned from them. We were short a couple and would probably have felt their loss had we played a more competitive team.
However, the experience and confidence gained by our younger lads from this game is immeasurable and will mean that competition for places is getting hotter – as it should be. We lead by 10 points at half-time playing up the hill against a stiff breeze. We didn’t play as well in the second half but still managed to put up a fine score.
