U12 FL V Whitescross – 4/6

Whitescross 4-11, Shamrocks 3-13

We travelled to play a table topping clash with Whitescross on Monday evening and this turned out to be a ding dong battle. We were playing catch up for most of the first half as the Whitescross outfit hit us with some great long distance points. We trailed at half time on a scoreline of 2-07 to 0-07. We regrouped and made two tactical changes along with some positional switches and this resulted in us coming back in to the game. We were trailing by four points with time running out. A pointed free was quickly followed by a well placed goal to leave the sides level as the clocked showed that time was up. Whitescross got a free in front of goal which they converted to leave them leading by a point. We then were awarded a free a bit out from goal but after a great effort the ball tailed off wide to leave us defeated at the final whistle by a single point. The final score was 4-11 to 3-13. In speaking afterwards with both sets of parents, mentors and supporters of both teams the general consensus was this was one of the best U12 football games witnessed in along time. Again thanks to all who travelled and supported us in large numbers.
