U12 FL V Tracton – 8/6

Tracton 4-06. Shamrocks 4-04

Our U12 football team travelled to Minane Bridge to play Tracton in the u12 football on a glorious Friday evening. We stated this game very poorly and found ourselves 2-01 down within 10 minutes. Not a single ball was going right for us. Heads were dropping all over the place. We had to move quickly on the line and after some positional switches we started to settle down again. At half time we were 3-07 to 2-05 in arrears.
Three changes were made at the interval and some more positional switches also. We battled away and played some delightful football. We were awarded a penalty with 3 minutes to go tie the game but their goalkeeper made a fantastic save. We scored another point to leave just 2 between the teams. Our final passage of play resulted in us scoring what we thought was the winning goal when a high ball in to the area was fisted into the Tracton net but to our astonishment the referee disallowed the goal for what he said afterwards was a square goal. It’s now back to basics as we need to start games better and get back to winning ways in order for us to qualify for the knockout stages of this competition that we won last season.
