U10 FL V Brian Dillons – 9/6

The highest pitch in Cork city was the venue for our U10 football fixture against Brian Dillons on Saturday morning. A very competitive first half was played in glorious sunshine and ended with Brian Dillons ahead by one point. Shamrocks came out a different team in the second half and with  great grit and determination by all 13 players,  went on to win comfortably. This was another outstanding team performance by all and we wish the lads best of luck in the John Kerins this coming Saturday.

SHAMROCK QUINTET PLAY THEIR PART IN CARRIGALINE COMMUNITY SCHOOL’S TITLE WINCarrigaline Community School added another trophy to their 2025 collection with a very merited win over De La Salle College Macroom in the Cork Under 16 Hurling C Colleges Final scoring 1-23 to 3-11. This Final was played in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in ideal conditions. The School was captained by Donal Herlihy from Shamrocks.​ A CREDIT TO THEIR CLUBShamrocks had five players involved in this successful team: Ollie O’Brien, Shane O’Meara, Alex O’Brien, Jack Whelton and Donal Herlihy who was Captain. On their way to the final they defeated Coláiste Mhuire from Buttevant, Coláiste an Sprioraid Naoimh and Bantry Community School. In a high scoring final there were some great feats including 0-8 from play by Captain Donal Herlihy operating at centre forward. It was an historic day for the School as it was their first success in this competition. The Shamrock Club is delighted and very proud to have such fine representatives in this feat.We must not forget the School Mentors who organised and trained the team and the great work and commitment of Diarmuid McCarthy and Anthony Sheehan must be acknowledged. ​BIG DOUBLE FOR SHAMROCKS' DONAL HERLIHYShamrocks' Under 16 dual player Donal Herlihy has hit the headlines early in the 2025 season. He was chosen to captain the Carrigaline Community School Under 16 Hurling Team and led them to capturing County honours recently. Chosen at centre forward he recorded 0-8 from play and surely played a Captain’s part.Another accolade for this progressive youngster is his inclusion in the Cork Under 16 Football Panel for the 2025 season. To wear your County colours is the ambition of many but only the privilege of a few. We wish Donal further success and no doubt he will do his County proud too.Donal has been a very keen and progressive player since he first swung a caman in the Shamrock Academy as a 6 year old. Along with his older brothers Fionn and David their combined input to the Club is enormous and a yardstick for others to follow. Tradition always plays a role and it is worth noting that Donal’s Grand Mother and Grand Aunt, Mary and Ettie Hayes were County Medal winners in 1949. They were members of the Shamrock Senior Camogie Team that defeated Blackrock in the County Final played in Cobh. They played their part in bringing the first ever Camogie Senior Title to South-East Cork. The team was captained by the indefatigable Maureen O’Sullivan.
