Shamrocks 6-10, Aghinagh 3-4
Shamrocks got their first win of the season after a very competent performance at home on Thursday night. They never let the visitors to Shanbally get any foothold on the game and some fine scoring bursts and team play did the real damage. Shamrocks started much better and even before they registered the first score, a goal from Shane Darcy, they could have had 1-3 but the goal settled them. The added a further 2-3 from Adam Maye, Tim Sheehan and Harry Andrews before Aghinagh began to come into the game more. They scored 1-1 and the HT score was Shamrocks 3-4, Aghinagh 1-1.
Aghinagh started the second half like they meant business and had Shamrocks on the back foot for a 10 minute period, adding 1-1 to their total. It was now 3-4 to 2-2 but from this point on, Shamrocks first responded with 3 quick points from play from Sean Andrews and two from Shane Darcy and the scores flowed after that as they had all the momentum now. Harry Andrews lobbed the keeper for a beautiful goal and that was it. A good team performance from all the players on the night and thanks to the parents and supporters as well.
