Shamrocks 6-7, Kinsale 2-1
We played our first hurling game of the season at home to Kinsale on a very heavy pitch after all the bad weather that we have encountered. Both teams were evenly matched throughout this contest but Shamrocks ability to get the scores at vital times proved to be the difference in the end. Kinsale started well and got a goal after 10 minutes of play to leave us playing catch up. Some fine performances were on show on both teams. We settled down at last and scored 4 unanswered points before the break to leave us leading by a point at half time.
Shamrocks were now playing with the breeze at our backs in the second half and the long balls into the Kinsale area was proving to be fruitful as they converted their possession into scores. They also got some lovely long distance points from play. At the end Kinsale try as they may found our keeper inspired and also hit the woodwork on two occasions. It was a great start to the hurling season and we now face another two games away in the coming week against Passage and Brian Dillons.
