Tracton 5-3, Shamrocks 0-5
Shamrocks lost their first game of the season on St Patricks morning in the league. Despite a spirited effort against a good Tracton team, they went down to a 13 point defeat where the goals were the obvious difference. Lack of numbers once again was a key factor as Shamrocks had to play the entire first half with 12 players. In that time, despite a competitive first 20 minutes in which Shamrocks led 0-2 to 0-1, Tracton scored 3 goalsd before HT to lead at the break 3-2 to 0-3.
Try as they might in the second half, Shamrocks just couldn’t penetrate the Tracton rearguard and indeed, Tracton got in for 2 more goals to win comfortably in the end. The Shamrocks players tried very hard on the day but once again the lack of numbers was a killer and by the end, a few players had hobbled off leaving Shamrocks with 12 players once again.
