Shanbally NS – November 2017

In recent weeks Shanbally N.S has made the headlines locally and nationally.

In an unique achievement the School’s two football teams claimed County School Shield Titles.

On a wet afternoon at Pairc Ui Rinn The Boys team were first into the arena against Berrings and after a very competitive contest, Shanbally found an extra gear in the final ten minutes to record a very merited victory.
The Girls team were next into action and from the throw in registered the very first score and led all the way through to the final whistle.  Two County Schools Shields Titles in one day was a phenomenal achievement for these boys and Girls. Well done and many congratulations to all concerned including the Coaches and Trainers who laid the foundations for victory.

On Thursday November 30th in Dublin, it was announced  that Shanbally National School was the winner of the Cara National Inclusion Award in Education Sector. This prestigious award recognises those who enhance participation opportunities for people with disabilities in sport, physical activity and physical education. This category encompasses all levels of education including primary, secondary and third level. Of course this award recognises and fully acknowledges the wonderful work done by over many years in this area in Shanbally School. It is surely a wonderful tribute to the partnership between children, staff, parents and the wider community. What a great ethos to have engrained in the School.

The Shamrock Club says well done and sends its compliments and congratulations to all concerned.
