Shamrocks 5-13, Tracton 3-6
Shamrocks captured the B2 West title in Minane Bridge on Saturday afternoon with a deserved win over the hosts. Shamrocks were the better team throughout and controlled the game from the start.
Derry Howard scored an early Shamrocks goal and this set the tone for the afternoon. Shamrocks added on some points and were in control 1-4 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. They added a further goal from a Cian O’Flaherty penalty before Tracton played their best football of the game to bring the margin back to 4 points at HT, 2-4 to 0-6.
Shamrocks reasserted their superiority on the resumptiomn and this is where the game was won. Cian O’Flahertys goal from the throw in was followed up with 3 quick points and Shamrocks had an 11 point lead. The backs were playing great stuff and allowed Tracton only a few glimpses of the goals that they badly needed. Further goals from the flying Derry Howard and the hard working Mark Sisk copperfastened the result, along with points from Harry Andrews, Adam Maye and Jack O’Leary.
Well done to all the players, parents, supporters and mentors on a job well done; onto the county championship now.
