The “House Full” sign was up at Shanbally’s Shamrock Bar on Friday night for the staging of the Under Age Clubs Fundraising Table Quiz in aid of the Schools’ Coaching Programme.
Teams came from far and near bursting with knowledge and skills and full of endeavour to capture the winners blue ribbon. Far an Ti Padraig Mac Aindriu, had a wide ranging and interesting book of questions that fully tested our eager teams. The ‘craic’ was mighty and Club Executive Chairman had a busy night ‘correcting the papers’. It was said afterwards, having done a great job, his skills might be sought by the Dept. of Education next year to check the ‘Leaving Cert results’.
The ‘ Controller and chief Auditor’ , Vice-Chairman Kieran Lynam, kept the ‘Points Board updated’ and at the end we had one clear winning team and four vying for second place.
There was a bag full of excellent prizes to please all our sporting and gracious winners.
The Club’s Under Age Chairman John Twomey, (Ringaskiddy) put in a Trojan effort into the preparatory work for this event and he was surely pleased with the magnificent night.
The fundraising will aid the Club’s National Schools’ Coaching Programme over the next year.
Ringaskiddy, Monkstown and Shanbally will be serviced on a regular basis with coaching and skills programmes to compliment their existing curriculum. At the end it is our School Children within our Parish who will be the real beneficiaries.
Sincere thanks to all the teams who entered and supported this Quiz. Special thanks to the Ladies who ‘put their shoulders to the wheel’ and sold tickets on the night.
Finally we extend a huge thanks to Sarah and Eoin and the Staff at The Shamrock Bar for their generous support and wonderful hospitality.
