Shamrocks 3-7, Ballinora 1-4
Ballinora played host to this league fixture last Monday evening. This was our best hurling performance of the year by a long shot. We were solid all through and took our chances when they came. Probably the most pleasing part was the performances of the younger and less experienced players. They were magnificent! To be fair, the older lads stepped up big time and didn’t take a backward step all night.
We led 1-4 to 1-3 at half-time but should have been further ahead. Our half-time talk was short as the lads themselves knew that once we steadied up, we had their measure.
The second half was a joy to watch – blocking, hooking, striking; all the skills of the game came to the fore. We are now well positioned in the league.
Big thanks to our loyal band of supporters. Thank you also to Olivia Clarke, who stepped in as our Medic on the night! And lastly to our 2 water carriers on an extremely hot night – Emily Foy & Shane O’Flynn (and Hugh!!)
