JBFL V Kinsale – 24/6

Shamrocks 2-10, Kinsale 0-14

A late goal by Alan McCarthy gave Shamrocks the 2 league points in Shanbally on Saturday afternoon. It was a good game of football featuring some good scores on both sides throughout the hour. Either team could have won it in the end but Shamrocks finished the last 5 minutes much better.

Kinsale played down the hill in the first half and scored 5 points. However, Shamrocks were working hard throughout the field and penetrated the Kinsale rearguard as well and sciored some great points from Cannice Cafferey, Nathan Hayes, Darragh Scriven and Cathal Kidney among others. HT score was 0-5 to 0-5 each.

Kinsale began to take over in the second half after Jamie Sweeney had scored an early Shamrocks goal. They kicked some good points and only for Criostóir Corkery in the Shamrocks goal who made a sting of impressive blocks (in both halves), they would have stretched their lead even more. They hit a purple patch midway through the half and scored 5 unanswered points. They looked good for the win but Shamrocks kept battling away and were rewarded with that late goal to take the win. Well done to all the players who showed fine committment to the jersey throughout the game.
