U10 FL – 29/4

The Shamrocks under 10 footballers continued their winning run in the league on bank holiday Monday. A twelve O’Clock throw in at Shanbally and the opposition St Catherine’s from Ballynoe in east Cork. We had a good turn out with 16 of our squad available to play. This was boosted by a number of the under 8 panel who are well able for this age group. The match was played 11 a side in line with the number of players St Catherine’s had brought with them.

We got off to a great start with a few well taken scores from our forwards and our backs clearing any opportunity that presented itself to our opponents. The pace of the game was quick in spite of the warm weather and any break in play was used to take on much needed water. There was some great movement from our lads to get the ball into scoring positions and it was clear that we had more football and better footballers than the visitors. St Catherine’s too have some lovely footballers and got some quick fire scores in the first half to keep the game alive at half time. But their challenge ran out of steam in the second half and it was all Shamrocks in the end. Final score Shamrocks 7-11 to St Catherine’s 4-2.

A big thank you to the supporters, and Stephen Keane for standing in as the referee, and equally a big thank you to the Shamrocks under 10’s who always play their hearts out.The futures bright.
