JAHL V Ballinhassig – 30/4

Ballinhassig 2-12 Shamrocks 0-17

Shamrocks were playing their second Junior Hurling League game in less than two days and it was a pleasure to see our side compete so manfully despite being ‘cut to the quick for numbers’. 17 points was great scoring and a draw or even a win was merited on the day.

Team Manager, Colin Brady was a forlorn figure in the Dressing room beforehand. 19 Players had fully committed to attend on Saturday, but on Sunday morning messages flooded in indicating that players were suffering from tummy aches, back aches and tiredness. So be it, the game had to go ahead and Colin stepped in to allow a 13 -a-side match to commence against a game and sporting Ballinhassig side.

Shamrocks got off to a great start and hit three magnificent points. Our lads were giving of their all and at the break Ballinhassig led 1-8 to 0-8.

The second half was nip and tuck and only a puck of a ball between two sporting and competing teams. It has been a long time since our team hit seventeen points and this augurs well going forward. Credit all our players, young and old, they carried our colours with pride. Thanks Colin for great determination and leadership.
