Kiltha Óg 5-4, Shamrocks 2-4
The odds were stacked against Shamrock as the only B2 team left and sure enough, Kiltha Óg proved stronger in the semi final. But not after Shamrocks had played their part in an exciting game and on another day, could easily have won this game. They missed a penalty, hit the crossbar and had more possession overall but Kiltha Óg were more clinical in front of goal and the ability to hit the net was the difference.
After being 3-0 to 0-2 behind at the HT whistle, Shamrocks threw all their eggs into the one basket and went all out attack in the second half. And for the first 7 minutes, it worked as they scored 2-2 without replay and were all over the opposition and totally dominant. But one kickout changed the last 7 minutes and Kiltha Óg won it, broke upfield and stuck the ball in the Shamrocks net and from then on, it was Shamrocks turn to be unable to get the ball out of their own half. The subs were brought on and a brave effort came to an end at the final whistle.
Its been a great adventure for everybody involved in the team and we thank them and the parents and supporters for the trip to Mayfield – for the first time this season, everybody on the panel was available and the lads can compete with the best of them.
