U12 FL V Lee Gaels – 24/4

Shamrocks 5-8, Lee Gaels 3-6

Shamrocks recent good form continued tonight with a richly deserved victory over Lee Gaels. We started brightly but could not register the scores to take control of the game. Again it took the shock of conceding a goal to wake us up and to be fair, we took over for the remainder of the game bar the last couple of minutes. We scored some fine points in the first half to level the scores before finding the net 3 times before half-time to take a commanding lead of 3-6 to 1-1 into the break.

We started the second half slowly and again conceded an early goal. However, we went on to score a couple of goals and points to ease to victory. We made a good number of changes where our younger players got a chance to shine. This will stand to us long term as the experience of playing at a higher grade and level will bring these lads on a ton.

We must mention that due to the non appearance of a referee, the Lee Gaels coach agreed to ref the match and did a marvellous job. We had our usual big support and thank you to all – the lads really appreciate your support. Our next match is a Football fixture away to Lisgoold this coming Friday evening and we would hope that everybody will make a big effort to attend.

We have won all of our Hurling and Football matches to date and we would hope to continue this run. Dara and Aaron picked up knocks during the game and we wish them speedy recoveries – Thanks to Elaine and Olivia for their assistance with the lads.
