U12 HL V Aghabullogue (B) – 8/4

Shamrocks 4-10, Aghabullogue 2-2

Shamrocks welcomed Aghabullogue to Shanbally on Saturday afternoon. This was game was nip and tuck for the first half. Shamrocks had the majority of the possession after playing up the hill with the wind.
A number of scoring chances were squandered early on but this did not deter us in any way. The lads stuck to their task and had a 6 point lead coming up to half-time only to concede a goal right on the whistle.
WThe mentors had a good chat at half-time and told the older lads to play with a little more belief in themselves. They are a confident bunch and knew that they had a lot more in them.

They started the second-half like a train and had the game sewn up within the first 10 minutes. Some of our play was exceptional and we took some fine scores. We were able to introduce some of our younger players and they all played very well. The older lads lead by example and pushed on at every opportunity. We conceded only one score in the second half playing against the wind which was a testament of the defending on show. Management were delighted with the result but know that stiffer tests lie ahead. The players are off now until 19th April but we would encourage all to keep practicing at home. We had 17 players togged out today and all got plenty of game time.

Thank you to all our supporters who turned up.
