Ballinora 4-6, Shamrocks 3-4
Our captain Dylan O Flaherty deserves great credit for his time and effort in making sure that Shamrocks were able to field an U16 football team this season. We are short of numbers in this age group but Dylan got a team together and performed very well indeed. In fact with a bit more self belief and training this team can hold their own with some of the teams in the league. We started the game in good for and dominated possession for the first fifteen minutes. Scores were hard to come by for both teams. Some goalmouth action at both ends of the pitch just before half time saw Ballinora take a five point lead at the short whistle on a score line of 2-04 to 1-02. Again we started the second half in good form and found ourselves leading by two points entering the final ten minutes. Ballinora fitness then told and the scored two unanswered goals to leave them winning at the final whistle on a score line of 4-06 to 3-04. Again great credit is due to the lads who togged out for us. We had some U14 players playing and they accounted for themselves very well indeed. We also had two new players, Shaun Allen & Valdo Lawson starting and speaking with them afterwards they really enjoyed themselves. Our coach Alan McCarthy had great words of encouragement for the team and with a bit more effort in training will be of huge benifit to them.
