St Vincents 1-18, Shamrocks 1-7
Shamrocks and St Vincents played for the right to reach the semi final of the league on Saturday afternoon in Knocknaheeny and it was the home side who fully deserved to move into next stage. They controlled the game from start to finish and in doing so, proved their status as extremely strong favourites to win the championship final encounter on September 17th.
Shamrocks played with the strong wind in the first half but St Vincents were the dominant team throughout. They were early on the scoreboard and racked up an impressive total of 0-11. Shamrocks were tyring hard but just couldnt get a foothold on the game. At HT, it was 0-11 to 0-2 for St Vincents.
Shamrocks were up against it in the second half but they played a lot better as a team. Unfortunately, the deficit was too much to overcome but the players applied themselves very well without ever threatening the St Vincents advantage.
Our thanks to all who travelled up to Vincents. Shamrocks play them next Thursday in a hurling semi final at 8pm (under lights) and in the championship final on Saturday September 17th. We’ll see plenty more of Vincents before the season is out
