Whitechurch 7-5, Shamrocks 3-5
Our Football season came to an end on Tuesday evening in Whitechurch. The scoreline suggests that we were well beaten but that would not be a fair reflection of the proceedings.
This game was in the melting pot mid way through the second half but a physically stronger and older Whitechurch team took over and finished very strongly.
The first half was evenly contested and we lead coming up to half-time. However, 2 late goals handed the initiative to Whitechurch who went in 3-4 to 2-3 at half-time.
We started the second half well and levelled the game. We then missed a number of opportunities to take the lead. That was as good as it got.
Our lads were very disappointed at the end. We have had a very prodfuctive season and I’m sure that next year we will be well up to the mark. We wish our 12 year olds all the best for the coming seasons as they played their last competitive Football game at this grade. Thanks to Stephen for his coaching and encouragement during the year; also to Mairead for her games management skills! Again, a big shout out to grandparents, parents, siblings and friends for their super support.
