Co MCHC Semi Final V St Patricks – 24/9

St Patricks 1-16, Shamrocks 3-5

Played in very difficult conditions in St Mary’s in Enniskeane the West Cork Lads were worthy winners after recording 17 scores to Shamrock’s 8 over the hour. Being without your talisman player and top scorer, was a huge burden in such a vital game. The absence of Andrew O’Grady was the difference between winning and loosing.

Scores were hard to come by and at halftime the West Cork lads were in front 0-7 to 1-2. With the aid of the elements St. Pats went into a seven point lead only for Shamrocks after a very spirited revival to cut the lead to one point. However, that was as near as we came and some late well taken points from frees and play saw St. Pats go through. The incessant rain and high winds made playing conditions very difficult for both teams. Full credit to all the players for their brave efforts.

Shamrocks can hold their heads up, they recorded a wonderful ‘East Championship Final victory’ recently and we will all look forward to more great hurling days in the future. Well done to all concerned and the very loyal supporters who came out in hail, rain and sunshine.
