Shamrocks 6-9, St Vincents 0-12
Shamrocks were made to work in the second half by St Vincents second team but they pulled away to win comfortably in the quarter final of the football championship on Wednesday evening,
Shamrocks played with the very srong breeze in the first half and got on the scoreboard early with a few points and a goal. They led 1-5 to 0-0 before St Vincents got their first score 15 minutes in. Shamrocks had plenty of possession but didn’t add too much to their tally, eventually going in ahead at HT leading by 2-7 to 0-2.
One would have thought that was way too much for Vincents but they rallied after the break and scored some great points and had Shamrocks worried a bit. They brought the scoreline back to 2-8 to 0-8 but Shamrocks scored 2-1 in a quick two minute spell midway through the second half and that was it as a contest. They added on another 2 goals while Vincents added a few points to round out the hours football. Shamrocks now move on to play in the semi final at the end of August.
