Whitescross 8-8, Shamrocks 5-13
A very high scoring game of hurling went Whitescross’ way on a beautiful Sundfay monring for hurling. The old adage that goals wins games rang true here as though Shamrocks got more socres than the visitors, the 8 goals conceded proved the losing of the game.
Shamrocks were 1-1 up early on, then 2-2 to 1-1 up soon after. Sean and Harry Andrews along with Mark Sisk were doing all the Shamrocks scoring. Then Whitescross went on a goal scoring spree and led at HT 5-4 to 2-6. Shamrocks had work to do.
The high number of scores didnt stop there. Whitescross got through for another 2 goals and they led by 10 points with 15 minutes left. Shamrocks refused to give up and with Seán Andrews causing havoc at full forward, they clawed it back to 3 points but time ran out in the end. An admirable effort at a comeback all the same. The lads are on a break now till late July/early August. Dont forget to keep practising at home/on holiday even!
