Ballinhassig 0-10, Shamrocks 0-6
Two rusty teams were trying very hard to get back into a football mode after a prolonged absence.
Shamrocks had the perfect start with two copybook points from Canice Caffrey in the 2nd and 3rd minute. Then the home side moved into gear and were on top for most of the half. At halftime it was 0-3 each after Shamrocks playing with the very strong wind. Ballinhassigj kicked ten wides in the opening half to Shamrocks two.
Ballinhassig resumed and kicked four points from play without reply. Their tenacity and physicality were key factors in their dominance. Shamrock’s three second half scores came in the last ten minutes. The Selectors used the full compliment of subs to give players playing time.
