Crosshaven 3-9, Shamrocks 1-11
The u14 footballers of Shamrocks and Crosshaven served up a cracking game of ball in Camden on Friday evening before the home side came out on top after a topsy turvy game. Both teams lead at different stages but the one that counts is the 60th minute.
Shamrocks played with the wind in the first half and led 1-8 to 2-3 at half time (the Shamrocks goal from Adam Maye). The forwards were in great form but the backs were under pressure and conceded those two goals that kept Crosshaven right in the game.
Crosshaven went ahead in the second half but Shamrocks battled hard but a host of chances went abegging – a combination of legs in the way, wides, some great defending from Crosshaven and some outstanding goalkeeping from the Crosshaven keeper kept Shamrocks from scoring that all important goal they needed. Meanwhile, when Crosshaven attacked at the other end, they did damage and invaribly scored.
It was a courageous performance from Shamrocks especially in the second half but they can be proud of their part they played in a high class game of football. Well done to Crosshaven and we’ll be seeing them on Tuesday night in the huling league, at home at 4.30pm.
