Shamrocks 1-5, Castlelyons 1-5
A fair result in the end as both teams finished level in Shanbally on Thursday evening. Shamrocks had 16 young players togged off for this one and all got game time as the squad was rotated throughout.
Castlelyons started the brighter and went 1-3 ahead playing with the wind. It looked bad for Shamrocks at that point but they settled down somewhat and managed to battle back to score 1-1 before HT to leave 2 point between the teams at HT.
Again, Castlelyons started the brigher and opened up a 4 point lead, 1-5 to 1-1 mid way through the second half. However, they werent to score again and the Shamrocks players were determined to get something from the game. They scored two great points from from play through Dara McCormick and Aiden Brady and then two Eoin O’Flynn frees went over and the game finished level. Well done to all the players and to the parents for their invaluable support. The lads are making progress and its important that they keep practising at home all the time.
