U12 HL V Aghada – 27/6

Aghada 4-2, Shamrocks 0-2

If ever a result did an injustice to a game, then this was it!  Whilst Aghada were the better side overall, Shamrocks battled away all night without any reward. They had a good number of scoring chances but luck deserted them on the night.

Shamrocks has 18 players togged out – the best by far this year – and agreed with Aghada to play 15-a-side. Shamrocks had a very young team out and all players got plenty of playing time. A tight first half, where Shamrocks missed some scorable opportunities, was highlighted by some tremendous hooking & blocking by our lads, especially the younger ones. Shamrocks turned around 1-2 to 0-0 in arrears.

The second half was nip and tuck for the most part but three late goals put a distorted slant on the scoreboard. Manager, Stephen Keane, was delighted with the display and whilst it is another defeat, the performance more than made up for it.

The lads are now free from games until August and this is a blessing! A number of them are carrying niggling injuries which can only be cleared up with rest. Enjoy the break lads! We had, as usual, a great travelling support and thank you all.
