Shamrocks 6-4, Caslelyons 3-3
Shamrocks good run continued tonight in Shanbally. The players were well up for this game from the off and held the upper hand for most of the half. They went a point down against the run of play but their reaction was exemplary. They hit 3 goals and one point before half time to lead by 4-1 to 1- 2 at the break. A number of substitutions were made coming up to half time and also at half time to facilitate all the players who turned up.
The second half was a more evenly contested game and in fairness to our opponents, they made a great effort to get back into the match.
However, Shamrocksbacks held firm and repelled most of their attacks.
The game was well over when we conceded 2 late goals and the Shamrocks keeper, Josh Bartlett, produced a fine penalty save.
Manager, Stephen Keane, was delighted with the result and congratulated all the players for their efforts.
Shamrocks have a number of young players on the panel and it would be remiss of me not to mention the progress they have made over the past number of weeks – keep it going lads!! They had a big support tonight and this was a great lift to the lads – thank you all most sincerely!
