Congratulations to the successful Shanbally N.S hurling team who won the Carrigdhoun Hurling blitz hosted by Shamrocks GAA last Friday. The team consisted of Adam McSweeney (captain), Mark Sisk, Charlie O Brien, Michael Foy, Dara McCormick, Darragh Hayes, Tim Sheehan, Philip Dorney, Aidan Brady, Daniel O Brien, Eoin O Flynn, Ferdia Hayes, John Coleman and Robert Barrett.
They had great victories against Gurrane, Dunderrow, Summecove and Ringaskiddy to win the shield. The boys have put in a huge effort to improving their hurling skills this year and were very unlucky not to secure a place in the County Sciath na Scol finals in an extremely competitive group. It is also very encouraging to note that half of the panel are only in fourth class so hopefully there will be plenty more success to come. Well done to all the lads involved.
Our girls team were in action earlier in the week and finished runners up to Minane Bridge in their Camógie tournament that was also hosted by Shamrocks GAA. This was a fantastic result in a very competitive group.
Finally Jill Roberts has made the Cork Primary Game Football panel and will play at half time during the Cork v Tipperary Football Championship game.
